If you’re anything like me, you’ve just stopped what you’re doing to pause and really take in this photograph by Chris Lashbrook, as he looked south from Canada at Mount Baker in Washington state. A seemingly hesitant moon is just beginning to rise over the horizon. At more than four feet wide in real life, the print of this photograph will mesmerize everyone who sees it … and that’s a very good thing. With the recent release of the IPCC report on our human influence on global warming, I can’t help but wonder if the moon here isn’t quite sure that it actually wants to rise and bear witness.
